Bumping the thread, since this Fuel Sending Unit wiring harness issue still comes up and can be very frustrating. The below info may not be 100% accurate, and corrections are welcome.
Many years ago, Mercedes updated old-style Fuel Sending Units with square-ish 3-pin wiring connectors (such as 211 470 4094, see photo) to new-version Fuel Sending Units with flat 3-pin connectors (such as
211 470 6094). Cars that haven't been updated yet will likely need Wiring Harness Adapter
211 440 0507 and possibly an updated plastic wire holder, which can be purchased from Mercedes dealers.
