I am in Colorado at the top of a mountain in a ski lodge. Looking at the fabrication of the lodge, I see what appeared to be lodgepole ceiling beams, but there are numerous bolts through each beam. So did they hollow out the lodgepole and insert steel girders with bolts to hold them. Does this mean that the lodge poles are only for looks?
