We did a large job way back when, 'O2-'03 about, the kitchen had a large vaulted ceiling, maybe 15 feet at the peak. There were large 6 x 8 cedar beams looking like they were supporting things, but it was all for show. The actual structure for roof support was well hidden 2 x 12 rafters. Easier, stronger, and cheaper than using attractive wood for support.
