W124 Passenger Door Lock - Possible to remove without 3mm screw?

Need some help here. I'm trying to pull my passenger door lock out, but I immediately ran into a problem. The usual 3mm hex key screw is not there and instead I see this weird thing inside:

I've tried squirting some WD-40 and tapping on it with a hammer before going at it with a large 3/8" flat head screw driver. But the thing won't turn.

Is there a way another way to remove this door lock short of cutting the entire door apart? I'm considering abandoning this door and replacing it with another one from the junkyard if the lock cannot be removed cleanly.
