Hello everyone. I am new on this forum and I would like to refresh this thread since I have a very similar situation described in the very beginning of this thread. I bought a'87 Mercedes 560sel, the car was barn found and to my knowledge was not started a seven or more years. She is not in the perfect condition but I thought maybe she is worth to bring her back to the life. The car is 160k miles, not rusted too much, original paint with small scratches and dents ( I think by sitting in the barn) and accident free. So I started with the fuel tank. Disconnected, removed, flushed and reinstalled with a new fuel strainer inside. Fuel delivery assembly replaced. New pumps, filter, fuel accumulator and all new hoses. Partially replaced metal fuel line, tank to fuel distributor due to a bad corrosion. I found in the car old set of ignition cables with distribution cap, rotor and spark plugs. Anyway checked mentioned components in the engine, everything looks very good, like new, the distribution cap very clean inside so I assume it was replaced with new set sometime before. I can hear the fuel pumps running when turn the key. Disconnected inlet fuel line at the fuel distributor and checked the fuel is coming out from delivery fuel line. Of course checked all liquids in the engine compartment. Oil very clean like new, coolant level very low , but all fluids will exchange after I'll start the car. After first crank she wanted to talk, like she wanted start but did not. It looks like she get not enough of fuel. She would like to start but she can't. I sprayed a starting fluid and she started right away and was running a moment until burned down the fluid. Did the same couple times. The fuel pump relay jumped pins with no success. BTW today ordered new fuel pump relay anyway. Start and nicely running with starting fluid and trying but can't start without. Any advices, suggestions will be highly appreciated and thank you in advance for help. Best regards.
