I agree completely with this observation. And I would add that one of the main reasons that they are overfilled to begin with is that you should wait 20 minutes or so before checking the oil. This is why you have to wait so long before the monitor in the instrument cluster will take a reading. It takes a long time for it to all get down into the pan.
