Back in perhaps 1970 I had to travel to a small town in Texas called Liberty Hill. It was so small it still had a telephone exchange with with crank telephones. I don't think the population was more than a few hundred. Today it is a real city.

Night time came and I asked my host in a joking way where was the best place to go to (that would have been in Austin, about twenty miles away) and he said LaGrange. Then he proceeded to tell me how he went there all the time and how great it was and how nice Miss Edna was.

Then his wife came in and asked if we were going to LaGrange or perhaps to Austin. Apparently he went there a lot. And it seemed to be an acceptable thing to do among the folks that lived in Liberty Hill.

As it was we stayed in and watched something on TV. So this is not much of a story, but it's as close as I ever got to the place.
