I've been under propofol twice for colonoscopies.

During my first procedure I had been scheduled at 3PM and I had an important function that I had to attend at 6pm. My doctor assured my he'd be done with the procedure well before then and I'd be able to attend my meeting at 6PM.

Not surprisingly on the day of the procedure things were running late. This was causing me some aggravation and angst because of my meeting a 6pm.

About 4:30pm the doctor enters the prep room and I immediately state that we may need to reschedule the procedure because of the delay? He begins smirking which annoyed me no end.

Turns out he was coming in to tell me the results of the procedure.

I had absolutely no recollection of being wheeled into the operating room or interacting with anyone after initially walking into the office. There was a time period of approximately 1-1.5 hours that had been totally wiped from my memory.

Recently had a second colonoscopy and had zero issues - total recall of everything except of course for the time I was under propofol.

Strange stuff indeed. Around here you must be picked up and driven home by a friend or loved one - I'm guessing because occasionally there are unpredictable side effects.
