W202 with electronic Ignition switch. Automatic transmission. 1.8 petrol.

Sometimes when I insert the key and turn to position 2, the ignition dash lights won't come on. Nothing happens when I turn the key to turn the engine over, i.e. resulting in no crank, no start.

Other times everything is fine and it starts and runs well.

Once or twice it has just stopped running and the dash lights do not light up.

Have I problem with the EIS switch itself, the gearbox stop switch, wiring, relays etc.
