Maybe compressed air would help push it out into the open so you can clear it up? If it was soaking the floor before, I'm sure if you got the majority of the water out, if the problem came back you'd know.
Btw- my little Lake Diamler was found (I haven't had the carpet in for a year or so now) and worked on to a certain extent (currently blaming windshield seal), it was also drained, NATURALLY!!
Good thing I just bought a MIG welder not very long ago....
