It could be coincidental, but I'd check your lift pump. How many pumps does it take to get the inline fuel filter filled? Before starting, is the inline filter half empty like it drained a bit over night?
Rough starting could be caused by the lift pump having worn springs/rubber. It would let fuel drain back into the tank, meaning you'd have to crank to re prime the system after it sat for awhile.
