1995 W202 C36 instrument panel glitching

I have been having problems with the instrument panel for the last year or so. The oil level light would intermittantly come on, but from 4*5 months ago has been on all the time. Oil level is good and the sender has been replaced.

As well, both the ABS & SRS lights would sometimes remain on when I start up, but the next time go out. Side note - are they connected with cruise control, because it doesn't work when they are illuminated.

Recently, I have been having problems with the temperature guage. The other day I went for a short (3 minute) drive to the shop. When I started the car for the return trip, the temperature guage showed 90°C (it normally runs at 83°). But almost as soon as I started the engine, the needle went to the maximum (120°) and both fans were roaring. I wasn't able to check hoses for temperature difference on my return because it was raining, but I have since checked the coolant level and it's ok.

The next morning, the guage needle was at ~60° at cold start (it usually rests at the bottom i.e. 40°), on starting it rose to ~82° (normal). I didn't drive it but sat in it with the engine running for a few minutes and it seemed fine, the needle didn't budge.

Today, the needle was at 40°, but when I started the engine, it immediately rose to 120° (max). Shut it down.

The engine wiring loom was replaced a few years ago. 214xxx kms, reco engine five years ago, gearbox three months ago.

To me, all this seems like a dash wiring or earthing problem. Anyone have any ideas?
