Replying to an old post, but I am going through left rear door replacement for second time on our '98 E320.
You probably know tis by now, but that piece you show is the attachments for the ends of the wire and it is part of the plastic slider. New regulator would already have one.
I had three panel clips come apart - I have re-adhered them using JB-WEld Plastic Bonder. This as Vince said, after removoing old glue from the holes . I also drilled holes in the base below those holed to srt of make aform in place rivet

I'm thinking about running a plastic tie through each end where the clamp goes, cutting off the excess and hoping that will work as a safety catch.

Len, Do you (or anyone here) know of a part number or a source for this clip? A lot of the DIY instructions gloss over this part, but it seems essential to keep the lifter centered and not break the plastic slider.
NOT TO WORRY: I found that the part # for W210 and several other models, is 2017350085. Very low cost, but essential if existing one is broken.
I have the Amazon regulator installed and it functions. Will try and avoid using it. I see no reason to open rear windows, but wife DID.(past tense
)
