Thanks Martin, though not the answer I was hoping for!

unfortuantely I didn't change the plugs so can't attest to their condition. Also, how/where does one adjust the mixture on this M117 (is that the egine number for an '89 420SEL's powerplant?).

Anyone else have other ideas, or encountered other scenario's?
