To the Men and Women of the diesel forum,
I just wanted to say thanks for the help/advice/tips that were offered about a month ago when I threw up a thread about 'how hard is it to change transmissions'. (its a # of pages back by now...)
European connection in KY helped me get a trans for my mom's 240D (automatic trans

) and I sucessfully swapped it out. The new one is filled w/ fluid (and goes in gear just fine, reverse real quick). I have yet to run it down the road, to check everything out, but in due time (got to change filters here and there, and a couple little things before I turn it over to her)
I've never changed transmissions in a car before and was worried about screwing something up underneath there- I was working under the W123 this whole time and it all went pretty smoothy... No big problems (just be sure to line up those bolt holes on the TorqueConv.) I used my ATV/motorcycle lift, but agree that a transmission jack is worth the rent (or the $50 at harborfreight). I had the Clymer which helped a little (cant find tranmission anything on my MB-W123 cd...)
The car waits a load of parts (new oil pan gasket, AT filter kit, check/replace rear diff fluid...) but I have a lot of confidence that I'll have it sweet/running before I get married (sept13).
Y'all rock, thanks guys
