Unsure what the GMC version is to be called, but the Colorado will start replacing the S10 pickup. It's a little bigger than the S10, about the size of a Dodge Dakota.
The engine that I have heard will be standard is a 5 cyl version of the inline 6 used in the TBlazer.
The S10 extended cab is out of production, we bought an 03 extended cab and they said that 03 is the end of the line, I am assuming the S10 crew cab and regular cab will still be produced for awhile.

Just to add to this..., it is reported in the September 2003 Automobile Magazine that the Chevy S10 and GMC Sonoma, presumed dead with the arrival of the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups this fall, will live on in crew-cab form until 2006. The Colorado and Canyon will be available as crew-cab models, but GM needs the S10 and Sonoma, built at a different plant from the new trucks, to satisfy demand.

I guess this is good news if you are a recent buyer of an S10 / Sonoma, as your car will not look obsolete / dated until they finally die in 2006...
