I have experienced that and have an answer. I bought a set of 4 NI-MH batteries with charger at a camera shop for $30. A charge lasts about 4 times as long as an alkaline battery. Some of the best money I ever spent as I use thes batteries around the house now too. My charger also charges AAA.
