EJC--Sorry to read about your situation but I can identify with it. Had a similar experince with my wife's old Range Rover hood...what a lot of extra work to make that right! In my experience there definitely is a difference in performance among different clay products, which is why I use only Meguiar's or Griot's Garage clay/spray lube. Great, reliable results with a minimum of effort.
