Where would the relay be for the intermittend windshield wiper? I've done some research here on the site, but do not seem to get a definitive answer.

Wipers wipe once when put on intermittent and then quit, all other functions (slow, fast, wash) are fine. Am I correct to suspect the relay rather than the combo switch?

If it's behind the instument cluster, would a failure of the expansion valve (diagnosed by a shop) have put AC gooo all over the relay, causing it to fail?

This is for a 1989 560 SEL.
