Howdy,

I recently ran out of diesel in my 190d 2.2 with 1/8th of a tank left on the guage. I carry a gallon of vegie oil with me in the trunk, so I could get it going again pretty easily. But, the 190d has a lift pump which I don't think a 617 does.

You might try taking off the fuel filter and filling it with fuel or injector cleaner. If it is fuel related, it should run until it uses up its supply of fuel.
