The newest Precision catalog shows that exact grill for 124 cars manufactured from 7/93-9/99. It is on page 4, and is $315.00.
There is no star on the picture in their catalog.
If your 300E is an earlier model with the older style grill, you might be able to play with the standard grill to get the same look. I am installing a new grill in mine as the old one is very faded and pitted, especially the aluminum. The replacement grill arrives with aluminum vertical and horizonatal strips seperate from the grill. The vertical strip slides in place, but the horizontal strips are hald on with clips. The horizontal strips have a cross section like a "V" with the upper parts of the "V" having a flange to hold the clips. After seeing your post and the avantgarde grill, I looked closely at the new grill which I haven't yet installed. It looks like a DIY type person should be able to use a dremel tool, exacto knife, or fine hacksaw blade to cut the clip attachements off of the plastic eggcrate grill. This would allow you to press the horizontal "V" strips directly onto the horizontal plastic grill runners - they would be held on by the friction as the "V" is slightly tighter than the plastic. You could use as many horizontal aluminum pieces as you want - 3, 5 (like the picture) or cover every horizontal plastic runner. Maybe about $40 or $50 total expense. Good luck.
