I used to drive an '85 300D but just recently purchased a '97 E300D. At first, I didn't know if I would really like the '97. The old one has so much style and class. The new one just doesn't have any of that charm. However, after having the new one for about 2 months now, I can say that I love that car. It is such a great driving car that I never want to give it up. Of course, I said that about the '85 to when I first got it. I still drive the '85 every now and then and do enjoy it but the '97 is much more comfortable. I guess it's a trade off - a really cool classic car or a really cool more refined car. By the way, the '97 has 233k on it and runs like a brand new car. They are still well built.
