Sounds like you have the classic (common) case of things ON your paint as opposed to things IN your paint. The solution for this is detailing clay. I'd recommend Clay Magic or Mother's detailing clays. Avoid the Meguiar's clay as it is too soft in my experience. (maybe the stuff just isn't good in the ATL heat?) However, don't use the spray lubes included in the Mother's or Clay magic as they tend to leave lots of streaks. Go with Wax Shop's Slick Stuff or Meguiar's #34/Quick Detailer. See my detailing FAQ and/or the shop forum archives for references to detailing clay. After you use the clay to remove all the crud go over the finish with #7. That done, rewax and you'll have a finish smoother than showroom. Give that a try and let me know how it works for you.
