Two thoughts:
1. Kerry is right about MB odometers. If the trip odometer got messed with, then it is very possible that main one has mal-functioned. These things are so easy to mess with. Mine was down for 1.5 years on our first '84 so I took out the odo and put a drill on it and brought it up to 228k from 201k. I assume that others do the opposite just as easily.
2. For the life of me, I can't figure out why "low miles" attracts a huge price. This would be true of a 'piece of junk' domestic, but our MB diesels are more like coach busses. Way, way overbuilt in comparison. As for me, I'm skeptical of buying one without 200k on it. Just don't trust whether or not its a good car until then.
My favorite oil comercial on TV is the 'high mileage' one. You know, the one that says if you have over 75k, then you need the 'high mileage oil'. What a joke. Thats not high mileage.... sigh
