The sensor is the same for C or F, only the LCD display unit is different. Your car probably isn't a true Euro model (could be, just not likely). Much more probable is that someone put Euro lights, clear corners, and the Euro plate up front.
As to MB kwality, well, let's just say that I'm not really interested in many MB models produced after 1995, except some of the cool ones that I could never afford (E55 W211, etc).
