Might want to change out the OVP anyway. And check the fuel pump relay, as that's another common cause for M104 hiccups. Your symptoms are a little different, but...

Coils also go bad on the M104's, but again the symptoms are a little off, but...

The car has a fresh fuel filter and plugs, right?
