I've been surfing for this kind of stuff too. I think the $3k number is pretty solid. Plus or minus depending on condition, the buyer, and eagerness to sell.

It is hard to search this stuff out because there were 2.8L 4.5L and 6.3L 6cyl and 8cyl models. Then there's coupe (2 door), convertible, sedan (4 door), fin tail, european mumbo jumbo vs. US mumbo jumbo. Very hard to pinpoint numbers.

I have a good feeling my car is a $3k car. It is a solid car with a combination of items in perfect condition and others in "needs help" condition. The AC needs a new hose and freon, the 3rd to 4th gear switch is "flairing". I have a 1972 280SE 6 cyl automatic. Some of my searches make me think it is worth less, but I think $3k would be easy to dig up. It is just too nice of a car.

The seem worth less than what I thought.
