92 300CE Fixed by Sandor's in Dallas
Just wanted to give an update on the hesitation problem I posted sometime in May, 2003 on my 92 300CE. The car hesitates from a stop and has ocassional hiccups when idling. Brought car to 2 shops (one gave up-can't fix problem) the 2nd shop thru the strong recommendation of a friend and after $$$ in labor and new parts with an assurance that the car is now up to specs, the problem slowly came back after less than a month. I have so far replaced the following:
Spark Plugs
Oxygen Sensor
EGR Valve & Gasket
Switch Vacuum
Water Temp. Sensor
Reference (flywheel) Sensor
As the hesitation starts to come back, I just drove the car occassionally and on weekends and posted car for sale. Potential buyers got turned off as the hesitation became so apparent. Finally as it became even worse than before the fixes, I brought car back to another shop called Sandor's. They replaced the following as shown in the attached photo:
1 Spark plug resistor
1 Suppressor Plate
Parts and labor came out to less than $220. Am beginning to wonder if all those parts replaced earlier were necessary to fix the problem. Also replaced the engine mounts (parts thru Phil-Fastlane at $65 vs $95 at the dealership) and spent another $160 in labor. Car now drives like a dream. I highly recommend:
Sandor's
13336 Floyd Circle
Dallas, TX 75243

It's a father and son team who both drive 300Es. Very pleasant and capable people and more importantly very honest!
And I've decided to keep the car.
