I'll bet I'm the old man of the group. 67 as we speak. Bought an '82 380 for the wife new back then. Disliked the car myself because of lack of power and conveniences. Drove a 12 cylinder Jag coupe at the time, which I thought was superior in looks and performance to the SL, although it was no rocket either. Wife loved the car and we kept it for about 5 years. Along comes 2003 and a lot of years under the bridge, and a guy offers me a 1983 380 SL DIRT CHEAP with low miles(74,000) and beautiful condition. Timing chain (double), top, seals, and more had already been done. I figure I'll flip it and double my money. Here's the twist....I am now in love with the car! I wouldn't sell it for double the money, and now drive it everywhere. (top down of course) This is undoubtably my 2nd or 3rd childhood. The car does that to you! Anyway, I now appreciate the car for what it is, and it has become a hobby with me.
This forum is wonderful, as I have learned much from it, and hope I can contribute to it as I get further into my little "baby".
