Is the unreliability of MB in the US partly due to dealers?

In Germany, MB's sell very much.
One of C and E class is in the top 5 selling model. Both are in the top 10.

The best selling model in Germany is VW Golf/Jetta, whose US version is notorious for very poor reliability in the US - it was listed in the Used Cars to Avoid list in CR many times -.

1. How is the reliability of MB outside the US?

2. Do you think the unreliability of MB in the US is partly (or largely) due to poor workmanship of MB dealers in the US?
(I saw many people saying that they had to visit dealer a couple of times to fix one problem and that they had to leave the car at the dealer a couple of days ~ more than a week on each visit.
