6.1 qts. is correct........on a " dry " engine.
You had a little residual oil in there, so 51/2 qts. sounds about right.
The main thing is, to have the dipstick registering between!!!the add & full marks.
Also, remember to start the engine, let the filter housing fill up & then take your reading.
