Been there, done that. 1961 thru 1965...... four year hitch. 0341 mortarman 2 1/2 years, 0141 personsel administration 1 1/2 years. Like you I wouldn't listen to anyone, I wanted to be a Marine. Hey a guys got to do what a guys got to do. Boot camp Parris Island.... not to bad. Got out in 1965 and worked 36 years 29 days for Western Electric, AT&T and then Lucent Technologies. You'll learn a lot of discipline which you can use the rest of your life no matter what you decide to do with it. You'll never be the same after the experience. Don't think you'll have time for school in the Corps other than what they want you to learn. Best to get all your schooling before you go in. Just my 2 cents worth.
