I thought the same thing, if I could get my hands on a control unit and plug it in and it worked it sure would answer my questions real quick. I will make some calls tommorrow to see if I can find one. The local salvage yards are a little expense here.

I love the idea of fixing it yourself. I can't wait for the instructions on resoldering it. I spent 7 years in the Navy fixing stuff, this can't be to hard. Ever fix one of those Becker radios? They always seem to die.
