Homeka, if you want something reaallly basic and user friendly that you can hold in one hand while turning wrench with the other..... then the Chilton is tough to beat for simple explanations, lotsa pics and easy readability.
Haynes is more technical and takes alot for granted, but is far less easy to read say, sittin on the crapper or while watching tv.
Workin on my own MB's for 3 generations of cars that include 111's, 114's and 123..... the Chilton is all I've ever needed to see me through pulling cylinder heads, swapping camshafts, replacing starters, alternators, subframe mounts and other simple DIY repairs.
However, when dealing with 20 yr. old car you might want to bag any manual you can get.... i donno if Chilton and Haynes continue printing repair manuals on older cars after 20 yrs.
