it wasn't as cold tonight as it was last night so i decided to fiddle with the little knob. i used a little wd40 and gently eased out of the 'frozen' state.

now it works. it is amazing and fun to watch that little cable move around as i turn the knob.

i amaze myself sometimes. thanks to all of your help. at this rate, i'll have every problem fixed in about a week.
