I don't know of any way to actually GET TO IT w/o taking the door apart itself (with a Sawzall). I was in the junkyard trying to get the LR one out and I had it completely disconnected and still couldn't pull it out - poor green 108 that also donated an ignition box to me and lower A-arm for the pass. side wouldn't let go of it. I only had pliers, no metal cutters, and was trying to pry the door apart, to no avail. I would think you have to take the arm off the mechanism but I didn't want to do that and risk being hurt by (or breaking) the strong spring inside the regulator.

Try lots of grease on the gear and the plastic bits it rides/glides on. That got my windows to open/close 200% faster (and I also "worked" them up and down quite a bit to help as well).
