I had a 190 2.6 1987. The pre-muffler directly from the headers was plugged so that the engine could not breathe. So bad that I lost all power, the car could not accelerate at all.
I had a shop cut out the pre-muffler and weld in a straight pipe to the regular muffler. This fixed the problem although the car was noticably louder. I did this because they quoted me over $400 for the part plus labor, and at the time $ was short.
