The car is definately not a "Grey Market" the VIN's on Grey Market cars are slightly different, the first number are the model i.e WDB126....... ( I have a Euro).
Looks like a decen't car for a DIY' er, I don't know about the trans taking 3 seconds to shift to R, mine take's long to shift to R but not that long, I'd say half the time.
