Changing the bulb for gear selection is quite easy and contrary to what some have said, for the 560 SEL it is not fiber-optic. Simply pull out the ashtray, remove the interoir of the ashtray (shiny part where the butts go..) you will see two screws, remove them. Carefully pull on the ashtray assembly and the unit will pull all the way out. You will then be able to remove the plastic piece that sits just below your ashtray. The elusive bulb is quite small, available at any car parts store for $2.00 for 2 bulbs ( sorry, do not remember the part # ) The bulb plugs into the gear shift selector from the underside. Its a hard bulb to find, if you look directly above the P (park) but on the underside of it, you will find it, black wires, white plug, simply pull out, put in new bulb and re-install. It took me about 5 minutes all told. One note- the wood surrounding my gearshift selector (fortunatly/unfortunately) was broken by the PO. It doesnt show, but it makes it extremely easy to remove, actually I like that it provides easy access. However, you should not have to remove that portion, I did, simply because I could easily. Good luck...you will find it once you get in there..its not bad! Jeff
