Something isn't right with the picture you provided. You shouldn't have so much sticking out. The seal locking ring should be almost flush, and the pin sticks out less than 10 mm. If you unscrewed all that to check the seal, I hope you followed instructions in the factory manual and measured the position before dis assembly.
