Your situation was exactly like mine before I reconnected a loose green vacuum hose at the firewall. Seems that no vacuum to dash manifold defaults heat to the side vents and defrost. Check this first. I Mityvac'd the hoses at the manifold behind the glovebox and found all to be operational on my 124. The fix also smoothed shifting of the trans-added bonus. Mike
