My 1989 260E SOMETIMES has no power when coming from stop. For instance, after driving 30 miles on highway, after I come off the offramp, pulling away from a stop sign, I need to get to almost 3000rpm before the car even begins to move.

Ohter times, it works fine. This condition was more obvious yesterday (for about 30 minutes I had the problem) and then after stopping at a gas station for fillup, it was fine.

Another symptom; I am getting about 16 miles to the gallon.

Last month, the symptom was occasional stalling when I forst started up in the morning. my mechanic made 'an adjustment' and now I have this problem.

Any ideas?
