Hey Patsey,

As soon as I read your last post I realized what I had done. I neglected/forgot to insert the thermostat into the groove in the gasket. I took it apart (again) and there it was. I installed it "correctly" and used an abundant amout of Permatex to seal it.

Someone else told me that the 116's have a tendency to pit and then leak, so thus the Permatex.

I should be getting the 83 240D back from my daughters soon (we reate them and I work on the one I have) and I can work on the temp gauge again. It looks to me like all of the gauges run the the glow plug relay and therefore if some are working all should be working. It must either be in the circuit, the circuit board or the gauge itself.
