Regarding the chip on your windscreen, if it is in the field of view then a glass repair shop will typically deny repair due to liability. Most insurance companies will cover partial or all replacement cost for the windscreen so investigate this option. I had the exact same situation a year ago and had mine replace for $250 from my pocket and balance covered under insurance.
