I was just up there in October. My dad lives about 15 mins. from there. Matter of fact, right by that bridge, is a nice restaurant with a large warm fireplace.
I think that its about 1/2 an hour to the Lakeside Mall (I think its on M-59/Hall Rd.) There ought to be a store in there that has the apparel you are looking for.
I've been gone from Michigan for almost 16 years now, and I don't miss the winters one bit.
