If you live in an area that requires oxygenated gasoline using ethanol, small amounts of water should mix with the gasoline and run through the system, because alcohol acts as a cosolvent that allows a small amounts of water to mix rather than separating and sinking to the bottom.

There are also products that you can buy at parts stores to purge water. They are mostly alcohol.

You could have another problem, but a can of "Dry Gas" or "Heet" (two brand names I recall) might be worth throwing in the tank.
