Say what you want.

I know that Lilly makes an unusual whirring noise (and Marlene doesn't) which sounds to me like a sloppy roller chain. I know for a fact that she has about 13° of elogation and I'm convinced that her funny 'lope' (that nobody else is experiencing) is due to a combination of the the elongation and the tensioner's inability to fully tension the chain at low (idle) oil pressure which, I think, allows the cam timing events to wander slightly at low/no throttle.

All we have to go on sometimes is experience and gut feeling. In another life, I had an air-cooled Honda 600 automobile; it's cam chain was loose beyond belief and made a remarkably similar sound to what I'm hearing on this car. Eventually, the slack side sawed it's way through the side of the chain vault. That 600 could be fixed with chewing gum, bailing wire and JB weld (and often was). This one won't.

My self-impossed goal is to have these cars dead-solid-perfect. I'm about to pull Marlene off the road for her long-awaited conversion to a manual tranmission and absolutely the last thing I want is to have Lilly puke a stupid $80 chain and cost me $2k right in the middle of major doins'on the other car.
