The first thing I would do if I where you, would stop working in the car. If it is the engine wire harnes you can and will make things worse than they already are. The insulation in this wires just crumbles and the more you move the wires the more insulation they loose. Check your wire harnes to prevent any damage to the computer, starting system or instrument cluster, etc. I just went thru this two weeks ago and feel your pain. Good luck.
