Just to get things straight: a lack or shortage of power can be caused by a bad grounding or malfunctioning of the combi-relais as well. It is not necessarily the battery gone bad, but can also be something like a burned solder in the combi-relais (like on my C250D), heavy corosion in a connector or on a grounding...
