Yes, there is a fastener holding the front "wedge" shape in place. Not really a clip, it's best described as a ball and socket. Yes, just pull straight back on it as best you can, I've never had one break. I assume you have moderate temps down there, that'll help. The action is best described as "jerking" it out, just give a forceful tug on it and it'll "POP" out.
